So, config editing was recently mentioned after I was complaining how my laptop had some rather severe FPS issues while playing Telos.
First thing I tried was to take my 720p (1280x720) resolution and reduce it - first to 800x600 (which sped it up a bit) then to 400x300 which resulted in very smooth framerates, of course with the obvious reduction in quality.
However, JP then mentioned that there were config options outside of the game available, and they resulted in me being able to have smooth frames and 720p resolution.
The configuration file can be found at:
C:\ TelosGameDirectory \ Client \ cfg \ config.ini
The items you will wish to experiment with for framerate-related issues are:
HDR
BlurHUD
NiceShaders
ShadowQuality
...and you may want to put ShowFPS to 1 so you can compare before/after!
For me, I didn't have to edit the shadow quality - putting HDR, BlurHUD and NiceShaders to 0 was enough to increase performance sufficiently enough to have smooth frames.
Hope this helps for those out there with FPS problems.
Also contained within the configuration file you'll also find all of the inheritance values for the various weapons which you may alter at your leisure.
The in-game console (default: ~) allows you to alter the config values mentioned above in a live setting. The console is also the only place to apply certain extra settings and perform certain actions:
"mousemode 0/1/2"
0 = normal, 1 = raw, 2 = cinematic mode.
"kill"
Kills the player, applying a large respawn timer.
For an admin,
"m.start"
"m.stop"
Start and stop a match.
