I'll start.
Hey everybody, I'm Sam Holmes. I was born in '84 the year of our Big Brother. I'm male, sired a son and am recently divorced. I play games to have fun exclusively. I have lived in Portland, OR for 30 years I despise it here- but nowhere else rains quite like it does here so until I can move to Scotland I'm stuck here.
I've been involved in video games since the age of 3, started on a commodore 64 and a 486 later on. Was mostly a console gamer at 9 until 1998 when Starcraft came out and PC won me back. I built my first PC at 10 which was a Pentium 2 and upgraded to a Pentium III the following year. I haven't been without a PC desktop since 1999 and keep building my own rigs not only to save on money but to keep up with the tech.
I record music, track occasionally, do rudimentary photo editing and write fiction with PC's when not gaming. The only peripheral I have worth noting is my mouse which is a Corsair m95- it goes with me everywhere. I cannot use any other mouse but it anymore, it's just too good. It works on any surface and I would highly recommend it to anyone who does precision tracking and drawing on PC and cant seem to get tablets to work in their head for screen transferral. (Plus it's fucking amazing for games.)
I mostly play First Person games, though at my core I'm still a JRPG, Side Scroller Beat Em Up, and Puzzle Fanatic. I dabble in RTS games and have been since Dune II, currently playing Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm/Legacy of the Void whenever it tickles me. I play a lot of Tribes: Ascend, around 20-30 hours a week. I've recently become pretty fanatical about Bullet-Hell games, like Ikaruga, DoDanPachi, Jamestown, Really Big Sky, Bleed, and FPS Bullet Hells like Lovely Planet, Drunken Robot Pornography, and Tower of Guns.
While I was attending college my room mate at the time was the president of the university gaming club and got me really involved in fighting games. I've been playing at around tournament level off the radar since 2009 for Guilty Gear XX, BlazBlue and P4a. I always play MVC2Chaos when I go to arcades and I'm not terrible but I play better with controllers over propads. I still remember Cinder's Ultra from the original Killer Instinct. >->-L->->L->->-X Shit was CRAZY~ ULTRA~~~~~~~~~
I play a lot of rogue-likes too, they're incredibly fun judgement/reaction time games.
Steam is my primary platform for games these days. Feel free to add me to your friends list- 'PrettzL'- I'm always game for any kind of multiplayer. (Borderlands 2, is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine.)
I also run a Minecraft server out of Texas that is currently hosting a modded server for Resonant Rise: Timelines and I'm on there in the mornings usually. If you play Modded Minecraft do feel free to contact me either here or through steam/facebook to get involved!
It's nice to make your acquaintances, let's make something good together.
Additional: My Nickname PrettzL comes from when I was a wee tyke (10) and my older sisters used to curl me up in to pretzels and I didn't know how to spell.
