Played some Metal Gear Online last night -- mostly Enforcer and Scout. Like past MGO games, it has some neat ideas and a lot of problems (p2p networking is awwwwwful).
It was fun to play the Scout class because it's similar to how I'm planning to carve out a midfielder role in Arms of Telos -- less about killing, more about spreading intel to team and being a general support. You'd mainly mark enemies so they'd show up on your teammates' HUD. Scout is the sniper class, but some maps just don't suit sniping at all so I had a loadout with an assault rifle and would use the spotting grenades instead of the binoculars -- on the really small maps, this was super effective but felt a bit spammy.
The fulton dynamic is great. If you capture an enemy alive, they can be worth a lot more points -- if someone on your team has a high bounty (that they earned from killing lots of enemies), you really want to protect them. I think the Scout class is also useful here -- the sniper rifle is good at popping enemy fulton balloons from a safe distance (even the tranq rifle). If you're the one with the high bounty, it puts pressure on you to play safer and more conservative -- pretty neat way to tamper the skill divide since it still takes skill to capture someone alive.
Might stream some next time I play.
