Yeah that's definitely a valid concern. For spectators, I want to do something along the lines of what CS:GO and MOBAs do.
CS:GO has a quick overview of what everybody is using. This will probably depend on strong iconography which might take some iterating to get right.
Here's how it looks in DOTA2. I believe in LoL this is also viewable to players while they're playing so you can react to the enemy's item builds. I'm considering doing something similar for AoT -- haven't decided yet.
AoT also has some resource management, so I'll probably do something like this so spectators can easily see how the teams compare on different metrics. CS:GO does something similar with the top center bar for money.
Readability is important for spectators, but it's also important for players so there are some ideas I'm experimenting with.
