Working on VGS System

Going to start working on the VGS system for AoT soon -- wanted to get feedback and see if there was anything I wasn't thinking of.

To start, it'll be text only (voice over will come later after we have a better idea what commands are helpful etc). I'm going to try and come up with some way for you to customize the button combos for each command in case you don't like the defaults -- not sure how that'll work yet (probably editing text file, at least for now).

Right now these are the defaults I'm considering (bit different than Tribes). I want to avoid having too many, but there's a good chance it'll be expanded later.

Attack VA:
Capture the enemy flag! F
Attack enemy base! B
Return our flag! C

Defend VD:
Defend our flag! F
Defend our base! B
Defend our flag carrier! C

Self VS:
I'm attacking A
I'm defending D
I'm going for the flag F
I'll be support S
Need a heal! H

Overall I'd say you've got the basics for a good VGS system. Some suggestions:

For Ask VA it might be useful to know if your base is clear/safe to return the flag or for a returning capper. VAS Is our base secure? or something.

It's also very handy for defenders to say 'Our flag is secure' while camping it when not at stand. That way they can time the return when the capper yells out VAC Return our flag!

I'm wondering if "I'm defending" can suffice.

edit: I guess that'd be ambiguous with someone clearing the base for a return

I'm defending can suffice, but may be a bit obscure. Say there is some flag capper defense on their team around their base. "I'm defending" might mean defending the flag or waiting for the capper to get to the stand once it is clear. This scenario isn't rare, but it doesn't happen all the time too. Do with it what you may, just shedding light on a possible scenario.

And as far as being near the flag out and exposed "I'm near the flag" or "I'm covering the flag" which is different from "I'm defending the flag/stand" might be handy to have this distinction.

I think 'Incoming hostiles! - VWE' maybe should be replaced by a 'Our base is under attack! - VWA'. Just an idea, but it really depends on how the maps end up being in regard to size/layout/shape, by the looks of some of the videos, it looks like it's going to end up being a really fast-paced game, even more so than tribes which has the slower classes with usually just the cappers going fast and offensive classes gliding more slowly across the map. Especially with the zero gravity areas (depending on how/where their used exactly in a map), I don't see people stopping around out there much, but rather preferring to use the grapple hook to go fast and move into a gravity area where the combat would take place. So, 'incoming hostiles' might become irrelevant quickly, unless of course it's a defensive player using it, but in a public game without proper team co-ordination, you might not know who's playing where, so an 'our base is under attack' could be more useful, for anyone to use. It all depends on how the maps generally turn out in the making though, and I haven't played the game so its hard to say how exactly it might go, but this is what I see from the videos at least.

I also believe there's always room for a 'WOO' or 'WOOHOO' as VGW perhaps, need that hype.
